Live updates in 140 characters from FMV Grand Portfolio tasting, 14 June 2011:
So many of my favourite wines here at don’t know where to start. Ah the velvety Meursaults by Javillier…
I am going to faint with happiness: 2009 Van Volxem Scharzhofberger is more than I can imagine. Stunning.
Great Chianti is about timing & when parts come in: fruit sings, then tannic snare, bravura finish: Castello di Ama Vigneto Bellavista! Brava.
Chianti Classico Castello di Ama‘s Lorenza Pallanti urged me to taste Lopez de Heredia (Tondonia) mid-range wines. Amazing recommendation.
The new cava Raventos i Blanc – outstanding – Pushes cava to limit!!
Again, Terrasses du Larzac (Languedoc) proving itself: Deusyls, Vin de Pays de l’Heurault 65% Viognier Roussane. Magical flavours.
Cute as a button Bardolino from Monte del Fra, Veneto £6.15. Like poached pear in raspberry coulis but more fun.
08 Giaconda Chardonnay (better under cork) like wearing a heavy yellow diamond bracelet. Luxury weight I could definitely get used to.
End of a long day of tastings with Mosel, has to be! Schiefer Riesling Heymann-Lowenstein. Mosel = precision drinking, german engineering. Vorsprung durch technik.
